Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore told the city's police commission today that the number of people shot in L.A. in 2021 has increased 73% compared to this time last year.
So far in 2021, 445 people have been shot, compared to 257 people this time last year, Moore said.
Violent crime in general has risen 4.7%, with 380 additional violent crimes this year compared to last year. Moore said the two primary areas of increase are homicides and aggravated assaults, City News Service reports.
