PlantCML released the Self-Registration Portal (SRP) for the Communicator NXT emergency notification solution, a Website that allows organizations to enlist previously unavailable contact information, such as wireless and VoIP telephone numbers, SMS and e-mail addresses, from the expected recipients of automated communications.

PlantCML developed the SRP in response to a "growing need for public and private sector organizations to expand their notification reach during critical events, such as inclement weather, security breaches, and campus safety threats," according to the company.

"By implementing the SRP, organizations can expand their communications reach to include a much wider audience," said Mike Adams, product line manager of PlantCML's Notification Solutions and Services (NSS) division. "Just as important, they can do so without additional resources and with minimal expense, making it a 'win-win' for both our clients and the people who will be notified."

Through the SRP, participants can sign up to receive emergency alerts issued before, during, and after critical situations. They can also opt in to receive general, non-emergency communications pertaining to subjects such as community services, daily operations, or volunteer efforts.

Following implementation of the SRP for Communicator NXT, the "click to register" option appears on an organization's Website, linking visitors to PlantCML's hosted portal. Participants can complete a short Web form, supplying their address, landline number, mobile number, SMS/text device, or e-mail address and select the types of notifications they want to receive. Residents can update their contact information as often as necessary to help ensure the accuracy of SRP data at all times.

If required by the organization, SRP participants may also be prompted to provide additional information such as their office location, building, or floor to populate custom fields within Communicator NXT. Once updated in the contacts database, these details may be used to include people in system activations.

The SRP for Communicator NXT also features administrative tools that allow organizations to individually establish security parameters and customize the user interface. These include defining the fields that can be viewed and/or completed by participants and the custom labeling of required and optional fields. Administrators also can determine the reports they wish to view or print, or drill down to view participant details via hyperlinks.
