Pennsylvania DA Seeks Gag Order in Trial of Accused Cop Killer

The Allegheny County District Attorney's office on Tuesday filed a request for a gag order in the case against a man accused of killing an off-duty Pittsburgh police officer.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette , Deputy District Attorney Stephie Ramaley says that the defense attorney Christian Bey spoke for nine minutes on a local radio program on the very day of Bey's arraignment in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.

In her brief, Ramaley wrote, "Attorney Robinson presented unsubstantiated facts in a nine minute radio interview and publicly argued against the application of the death penalty against her client. The commonwealth submits that KDKA is an inappropriate forum for the legal arguments surrounding the application of the death penalty in the instant case."

Bey is charged with homicide for the murder of Officer Calvin Hall in July 2019.
