New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has vetoed a pair of measures to create an NYPD inspector general and allow people to sue over racial profiling by officers.

Bloomberg said the measures, which seem likely to pass on a City Council veto override, would help criminals and terrorists, reports the New York Daily News .

His veto message called each measure "a dangerous and irresponsible bill that would make New Yorkers less safe."
