When it comes to the work status of now Interim Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis, Mayor Young is frank.
“She is our chief. It’s just an interim title on it,” he told WREG.
He said there’s no national search for another chief happening, and he gave no answer as to how long the interim title could stay. Looking ahead, Young said he’s not focused on getting votes from city council members to confirm Davis’ position but instead getting results in the community.
Memphis is plagued with crime, with 397 homicides last year smashing records of previous years.
