A judge in California has ruled that the man accused of killing two officers with the Palm Springs Police Department in an ambush attack is mentally fit to face the death penalty if he is found guilty at trial, according to the San Diego Union Tribune .
Superior Court Judge Anthony Villalobos rejected a motion filed by defense attorneys to strike the death penalty for 28-year-old John Hernandez Felix, who faces two counts of murder with the special circumstances of multiple murders, murder of a police officer in the line of duty and lying in wait.
