Judge Dismisses Lawsuit by Antifa "Medics" Against Federal Officers

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon on behalf of four Antifa street medics.

The lawsuit accused federal officers from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Marshals Service of unlawfully targeting them because they are "medics."

U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut wrote in her ruling that Antifa activists claiming to be "medics" held varying degrees of medical training, intentionally positioned themselves beside rioters, lacked distinctive uniforms and thus weren’t capable of being specifically targeted by authorities, the Post Millennial reports.

"In many instances, alleged plaintiffs were not actively providing medical aid when they were harmed," Immergut wrote in her May 15 ruling. "Plaintiffs admittedly position themselves right next to protesters in areas which pose the most risk of harm, rather than standing apart from the crowd, undermining the suggestion their harm was the result of intentional targeting."
