Georgia PDs Trade In Old Video Systems for New Decatur Models
Police departments in Georgia are taking advantage of the Green for Green environmental trade-in program, leveraging the $750 trade-in credit Decatur Electronics is offering for each old video system they trade in toward Decatur's new Responder 1000.
Police departments in Georgia are taking advantage of the Green for Green environmental trade-in program, leveraging the $750 trade-in credit Decatur Electronics is offering for each old video system they trade in toward Decatur's new Responder 1000.
The Quitman and Lavonia police departments are upgrading their aging video systems through the program.
"We are proud to be able to better protect our community with the Responder 1000," said Capt. Calvin Troy of the Quitman Police Department. "The new in-car video system we received with the Green for Green program will help us keep our community safer and help protect our environment."
The Green for Green program allows law enforcement agencies to upgrade their in-car video systems to the new Responder 1000 in car video system, while Decatur recycles the old systems.
"We are excited to be working with departments in Georgia to get them the technology they need to protect their communities," said Kelly Abercrombie, Decatur's Southeastern Regional Manager. "We're proud to be partnering with them."
Law enforcement agencies around the nation count on in-car video systems to help them protect their communities. In a study by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, an overwhelming majority of prosecutors found in-car video useful in prosecuting criminals driving under the influence and assaulting officers.
The purchase of new video technology by these police departments allows them to take advantage of recent strides in video technology to capture high quality evidence while remaining green. Decatur will recycle the departments' old systems, keeping them out of Georgia landfills.
Decatur Electronics has manufactured products for law enforcement for over 50 years, being the first company in the United States to manufacture police traffic radar in 1955. The company currently offers a myriad of tools to law enforcement, including the Responder suite of in-car video systems as well as traffic radar and speed and message trailers.
