Ga. Chief Cleared of Racial Slur

A veteran Columbus (Ga.) Police officer has resigned after his claim that his chief racially slurred a county marshal was refuted.

Officer Jeff Foxx resigned Thursday, after he failed a polygraph test regarding his claim that Chief Rickey Boren used the "N" word when referring to Muscogee County Marshal Greg Countryman in a fourth floor bathroom of the public safety building.

Chief Boren has served with the agency for 42 years, including nine as chief.

"I knew it was fabricated from Day 1," Boren told the Ledger-Enquirer . "The only thing I didn't know was who fabricated it and why they fabricated it. I want to know what the next step is to clear my name."
