Scree Shot from Volusia County SO Video
Wednesday May 21, 2025, Sheriff Chitwood met suspect Matthew Moulton at a local airport and had him arrested, video posted on Facebook by the Volusia County SO shows.
“I made sure you came back,” he said.
“Look me in the eye and tell me why you want me dead,” the sheriff ordered after introducing himself to the suspect.
On video from the incident, Moulton tells the sheriff that he sent him a sermon from the Bible book of Romans.
The sheriff explained to Moulton that he sent a written threat to kill and that’s a felony in Florida. He added that Moulton would have to reimburse Volusia County for the airplane trip and his stay at the local jail.
Moulton raised his voice quoting another Bible verse and called the sheriff a “bondsman.”
Chitwood responded with, “We’ll make sure your cell has rubber walls.”
