Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) reintroduced legislation this week to end qualified immunity for law enforcement officers.

Pressley and former Rep. Justin Amash, a Libertarian from Michigan, first introduced the legislation last year in the wake of anti-police protests and riots following the in-custody death of George Floyd.

The " Ending Qualified Immunity Act " is also co-sponsored by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and progressive Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-I), and Cori Bush (D-MO), Fox News reports.

Legal analysts contacted by POLICE say Congress does have the power to enact legislation that revises U.S. Code and ends the doctrine of qualified immunity.
