The uncle of the 20-year-old who killed 26 people in a shooting rampage Friday morning at a Connecticut elementary school said the family expresses "our heartfelt sorrow" to the victims' families and community of Newtown.
James Champion, a retired captain and part-time officer with the Kingston Police Department and Rockingham County Sheriff in New Hampshire, issued a statement read by Sheriff Michael Dowling during a press conference. Champion is the brother of Nancy Lanza, who was killed by her son Adam prior to the attack.
