Belligerent Suspect Tries to Hit Officer With Stolen Patrol Car

An agitated Gilroy, Calif., man was arrested after he hijacked a patrol car, attempted to remove a locked police weapon, and nearly ran down an officer while driving the vehicle in reverse, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Kenneth Aguero, 31, became belligerent after employees of a tow yard told him he needed proper paperwork to pick up his car, which Gilroy police had towed because it was blocking a driveway.

Officers used pepper spray, a TASER and batons on Aguero, who resisted attempts to bring him into custody. Officers then fired on Aguero when he nearly ran down an officer after attempting to steal a patrol car. He was taken into custody with the help of a K-9 unit.
