Arkansas Department Receives Grants for Victim Services, Gun Investigations

Officers with the Little Rock (AR) Police Department will soon have several new capabilities to investigate crimes and provide assistance to crime victims.

According to KUAR Radio , the department is receiving $1 million in three separate federal grants.

The funds will be put toward placing a National Integrated Ballistic Information Network system on site at the department, allowing investigators to more quickly assess shell casings found at crime scenes.

Funds will also go toward the hiring of six crime victim advocates, one of whom who will specialize in dealing with Hispanic victims and another who will specialize in helping LGBTQ individuals.
