The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) has named Detective Claudia Castro of the Fairfax County (VA) Police Department, as its Officer of the Month for June 2025. Detective Castro was selected for her actions during an investigation that was brought forth by a child victim being solicited online for sex by an unknown adult.
The case began in March and culminated with multiple search warrants and arrests on June 10, 2025. This case ran between Virginia and New York with multiple victims throughout the United States.
Detective Castro has served with the Fairfax County Police Department since 2018. She began her service as a patrol officer and later transitioned to the Major Crimes Bureau, where she was assigned to the Child Abuse Squad. During that time, she received multiple recognitions for her investigative work and support of victims.
She later transferred to the Child Exploitation Unit, where she managed cases involving internet-facilitated offenses against children. Based on her experience and subject matter knowledge, she was selected to serve as a Task Force officer with the Virginia State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. In this role, she continues to contribute to multi-jurisdictional investigations aimed at protecting vulnerable populations and supporting accountability efforts.
“Detective Castro’s actions reflect the integrity and professionalism demonstrated by so many in the law enforcement community,” said William Alexander, CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. “We are honored to recognize her as our Officer of the Month for June 2025.”
The Officer of the Month Award Program is sponsored by the Police Unity Tour and recognizes federal, state, and local officers who distinguish themselves through exemplary law enforcement service and devotion to duty.
