Retired Louisiana Officer Accused of Stealing $6,500 from Department

An officer who retired from the Houma (LA) Police Department in late 2019 is now facing multiple charges in connection with an investigation into the disappearance of $6,500 of department funds.

An officer who retired from the Houma (LA) Police Department in late 2019 is now facing multiple charges in connection with an investigation into the disappearance of $6,500 of department funds.

According to Houma Today, 46-year-old Jeff Lirette is charged with 45 counts of injuring public records, 17 counts of forgery, malfeasance in office and theft between $5,000 and $25,000.

Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman said Lirette retired from the department after 23 years of service.

Lirette was released on $20,000 bond.
