Louisiana Lieutenant Killed by “Friendly Fire” While Executing Search Warrant

Lieutenant Allen “Noochie” Credeur, 48, was searching for a suspect wanted over a stabbing incident Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. when he was hit and mortally wounded by friendly fire, the department says.

A Rayne, Louisiana, Police Lieutenant was killed by what officials are describing as “friendly fire” Monday (May 5, 2025) while executing a search warrant.

Lieutenant Allen “Noochie” Credeur, 48, was searching for a suspect wanted over a stabbing incident Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. when he was hit and mortally wounded by friendly fire.

“Despite immediate medical attention, (Lieutenant Credeur) succumbed to his injuries on the scene. This devastating accident has shaken the entire department and community,” the Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly said in a Facebook release.

Credeur joined the Rayne PD as a reserve officer in 2003 and became a full-time officer in 2005. Stelly says Credeur was “a pillar of the agency” who served as a D.A.R.E. officer and worked with local youth athletics.

Credeur is survived by his fiancé and his brother.

 

 

 

Stelly said the incident is under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
