Alabama Sheriff Recruiting Army Vets for Deputies

“In today’s age when it comes to recruiting for law enforcement positions its a very competitive environment and this Army pays program is just one more things that works to our advantage to get the best and brightest," said Captain Mark Bishop.

The Shelby County (Alabama) Sheriff’s Office is working to recruit more deputies from the military.

Through a new partnership with the U.S. Army, the sheriff’s office is guaranteeing a job interview and possibly employment after their service in the Army, WBRC reports.

The U.S. Army, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Shelby County Law Enforcement Personnel Board signed a partnership agreement as part of the Army Pays program.

The program Army Pays is a partnership between the Army, private and government organizations who are seeking employees with skills and a work ethic that military service members bring.

“In today’s age when it comes to recruiting for law enforcement positions its a very competitive environment and this Army pays program is just one more things that works to our advantage to get the best and brightest from the military making that transition to us here at the sheriff’s office,” said Captain Mark Bishop.
