Curry County, New Mexico, Sheriff Mike Reeves was found dead Dec. 4 in a hotel room where he was attending training at the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy in Santa Fe.

Officials did not immediately announce a cause of death, but Undersheriff Michael Brockett said no foul play is suspected.

Officials did not immediately announce a cause of death, but Undersheriff Michael Brockett said no foul play is suspected.
Reeves, 59, ran unopposed for Sheriff in 2022, ABC7 reports.
He spent more than 35 years in law enforcement, beginning his career with the Clovis Police Department in 1983.
Undersheriff Brockett will serve as the Acting Sheriff until Curry County commissioners appoint someone to fill the seat.
Reeves is survived by his two sons, Collin and Hayden, and his daughter Avery.
