Oklahoma SRO Dies After Fall at High School Football Game

Captain John Randolph was reportedly escorting a teacher who was carrying the gate money for a Ringling High School football game when he tripped over some wood debris and fell on a woodpile.

A Ringling, OK, police captain and school resource officer died in late September after an on-duty accident.

Captain John Randolph was reportedly escorting a teacher who was carrying the gate money for a Ringling High School football game when he tripped over some wood debris and fell on a woodpile.  He died three days later on Sept. 25 from the injuries, the Officer Down Memorial Page reports.

Starting his law enforcement career in 1993, Randolph worked for Healdton, Lone Grove and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office before joining Ardmore Police Department in 1997. Randolph served with Ardmore Police Department for 22 years until retirement.

Randolph ran for Carter County Sheriff in 2020 before coming out of retirement to join the Ringling captain and as the resource officer for Ringling Public Schools, KXII reports.

Captain Randolph was 59. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents, and brother.
