Houston Standoff Ends as SWAT Storms Barbershop

A SWAT standoff at a barbershop on Houston's south side ended this morning after police stormed the building and subdued an armed man with help from a dog and a Taser. Police said the man took his brother and sister-in-law hostage inside Dugar's Urban Kuts in the 9100 block of Scott about 1:45 a.m.

A witness told CNN affiliate WRAL-TV that the shooter was armed with a rifle, a shotgun and other weapons. The officer who stopped him, Justin Garner, "acted in nothing short of a heroic manner" and probably stopped the carnage from being worse, Moore County District Attorney Maureen Krueger said.
