Survivalist Shot by Officers, After Five-Day Manhunt

Aaron Bassler, 35, was shot seven times in the chest, by tactical officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, as he held a Norinco SKS rifle. The deputies located Bassler at 12:35 p.m. There was a round in the chamber, the rifle was in the fire position, and Bassler's finger was extended alongside the trigger.

Two Ohio State University police officers worked so many overtime shifts in 2010 that their overtime pay surpassed their base salary. Officers Richard A. Green and Thomas A. Schneider, each took in more than $84,000 in overtime last year. They earned more than $165,000.
