Sheriff’s Investigator Serving with U.S. Marshals Shot During Arrest of GA Murder Suspect

The officer shot was a Coweta County Sheriff's Office investigator attached to the U.S. Marshals Service, a statement from the Coweta County Sheriff's Office said.

Someone shot a member of a U.S. Marshals task force during the arrest of a teenage murder suspect on Sunday at the Shiloh Mobile Home Ranch in Fayette County, GA.

The Pike County Sheriff's Office confirmed the U.S. Marshals Service took 19-year-old Antonio Murgado Jr. into custody. The officer shot was a Coweta County Sheriff's Office investigator attached to the U.S. Marshals Service, a statement from the Coweta County Sheriff's Office said. The investigator is in stable condition, Fox 5 reports.

The GBI said Murgado was shot multiple times and hospitalized in Atlanta, and his injuries are also not expected to be life-threatening.

The arrest stemmed from a murder investigation that began in Pike County.
