Arkansas Corrections K-9 Sergeant Killed Assisting Deputies

The Arkansas Department of Correction reports a sergeant with the agency’s K-9 tracking team was shot and killed Monday morning during manhunt near Maumelle.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Division of Correction Sgt. Joshua Caudell died while responding to a welfare check Monday morning, THV11 reports

When deputies entered the house, the Arkansas Department of Corrections used tracking dogs to track the suspect to a trailer.

The suspect began shooting from under the trailer, striking Sgt. Caudell and killing him, authorities say.

The Pulaski County SO identified a person of interest as 37-year-old Demark Lee Jordan, KARK reports.

The woman who was the subject of the welfare check has been located safely.
