A group of LAPD officers managed to pull an injured pilot from a single-engine aircraft Sunday afternoon just seconds before the plane was struck by a commuter train.

The Associated Press identified the plane as a Cessna 172.

The Cessna crashed on a Metrolink track in the Pacoima neighborhood of Los Angeles, KTLA reports.

The pilot was taken by the LAFD to a regional trauma center for treatment, the Fire Department added.

Body camera footage from the officers involved appears to show that the pilot is a middle-aged man, but the pilot’s name, age and condition have not yet been released. It is believed the pilot was not seriously injured.
