An officer with the Southborough (MA) Police Department was injured after he was reportedly assaulted with a weapon inside a police station on Monday night.

According to NBC News, police say the officer was conducting an interview with a complainant who had reported that he had been receiving threats when the subject—whose name has not been released—suddenly attacked him with an unspecified weapon.

The assailant then reportedly fled the building but was soon taken into custody and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
