A second member of the command staff of the Burlington (VT) Police Department has resigned from the department in the aftermath of a controversy over those individuals' use of social media.

According to WCAX-TV, Deputy Police Chief Jan Wright had reportedly created fake social media accounts in order to respond to critics of the agency.

Last year, Chief Brandon del Pozo resigned when it was discovered that he created a burner Twitter account to troll a critic of the city.

In a statement Monday night, Mayor Miro Weinberger said that Wright "took multiple actions that damaged City relationships and eroded the public’s and my trust in her judgment beyond repair... she has agreed to my request that her service to the City end at this time, for the benefit of the Department and of the City."
