Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca has reported to a Texas prison to begin a three-year prison term.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 77-year-old former lawman was found guilty of thwarting a federal investigation into his agency's jail system and sentenced to three years in jail in 2017.

Baca—who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease—sought to appeal his conviction through the appeals process, but in January the Supreme Court denied Baca's request to have his case reviewed.
