The man accused of killing an officer with the Fort Myers (FL) Police Department has been found to be competent to stand trial.
According to NBC News, Wisner Desmaret—who stands accused of murdering Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller during an altercation at a gas station in July 2018—has been found in the past to be unfit to stand trial, leading to charges against him being dropped.
Officer Jobbers-Miller had responded to a call of an assault and larceny when he came under fire. He fought to stay alive for seven days at a nearby hospital after being shot in the head but eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Jobbers-Miller had served with the Fort Myers Police Department for three years and had previously served as a firefighter with the Wayne Fire Department in New Jersey.
