The parks director in Hendersonville, TN, says that he's had dozens of citizens request that the agency rename the Batey Farm Park after fallen Officer Spencer Bristol, who died tragically on Monday.

According to NBC News, Parks Director Andy Gilley said, "It speaks more to the character and life of Officer Bristol that people would suggest this."

Officer Bristol started pursuing a vehicle over a traffic-related offense in Hendersonville. The pursuit ended with a vehicle collision, and the suspect fled on foot.

While Bristol was attempting to pursue the subject on foot on the Interstate, he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Hendersonville Police Chief Mickey Miller says Officer Bristol was a Navy veteran. He leaves behind a wife and three-year-old daughter, and was with Hendersonville PD for a little over four years.
