A Deputy with the Midland County (TX) Sheriff's Office suffered minor injuries after his patrol vehicle was struck by a passing train.

According to KXXV-TV, the deputy waited for a train to pass the crossing and began to proceed forward, unaware that another train was traveling in the opposite direction.

The officer was one of several who were responding to a call of a child in need of medical assistance.
