Washington K-9 Leads Deputies to Hiding Fugitive

A K-9 with the Kitsap County (WA) Sheriff's Office was instrumental in locating a suspect who fled police on foot into a wooded area in that state.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook, 'K-9 Heiko loves to play 'Hide-n-Seek!' Early this morning at 2:00 am, a 33-year-old joined in with K-9 Heiko, when he ran from officers in East Bremerton. The agency said on Facebook, "K-9 Heiko loves to play 'Hide-n-Seek!' Early this morning at 2:00 am, a 33-year-old joined in with K-9 Heiko, when he ran from officers in East Bremerton. This subject had arrest warrants for 2nd Degree DV Assault, Burglary (DV) & was also wanted for Violation of a No Contact Order.

"After an hour of tracking the suspect, K-9 Heiko & his K-9 Handler Deputy A. Baker located the suspect hiding in a stairwell apartment complex. As K-9 Heiko went in for the arrest, the suspect yelled out he was giving up."

The post concluded, "Awesome job Heiko. Keeping your communities safe, one track at a time!"
