A trooper with the Michigan State Police was reportedly dragged more than 1,000 feet by a vehicle driven by a subject suspected to be intoxicated.

According to WSBT-TV News, the Friday night incident began with a traffic stop. The trooper opened the driver's side door and asked the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver refused, and instead accelerated away from the scene with the trooper still hanging onto the door.

The vehicle then reportedly collided with a parked car, and the assailant attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody by responding officers.

The trooper was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
