Micah Hale—a veteran officer with the Selma (AL) Police Department who was ambushed early in the morning on September 2018—has returned to the street.

According to NBC News, Hale never even considered giving it up despite pleas from family.

Hale spent his first day back at work joining Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier in addressing a group of male students at Selma High School.

"By the grace of God I am still standing," Hale said.
