She drove on a sidewalk on the dead-end street, hit several parked cars and rammed the undercover police vehicle, prompting at least one San Leandro, Calif., officer to open fire.

A San Leandro, Calif., police officer on Wednesday shot a woman who allegedly rammed a stolen vehicle into an undercover police car in East Oakland, police said, reports the San Jose Mercury News.

San Leandro police about 4:30 p.m. attempted to pull over the unidentified woman in the 300 block of 105th Avenue near Interstate 880 in the Sobrante Park area of East Oakland, authorities said.

Instead, she drove on a sidewalk on the dead-end street, hit several parked cars and rammed the undercover police vehicle, prompting at least one officer to open fire, Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said. At least five other marked San Leandro patrol cars were there when the shooting occurred, Watson said.

The woman, described as being in her 20s, was wounded more than once but was conscious and talking as she was taken to a hospital after the shooting, police said. Her exact condition was not available. A male passenger in the stolen car was detained and being questioned by police Wednesday evening.
