Santa Monica (Calif.) Police shot and killed an armed gunman who stormed onto Santa Monica College's campus. The gunman was shot in the campus library shortly after noon. He was wearing all black, was heavily armed and was possibly wearing SWAT gear, reports KTLA.

After attempting a home invasion robbery, he then fired shots inside another home, which caught fire. Two people were found dead inside that residence. The suspect is believed to have carjacked a passing vehicle and shot the driver of another car.

The shooter then either drove or was driven by a woman a few blocks away just outside the college, where he fired shots at a crowded public bus. He then went onto campus and started shooting in the campus library.

Some reports note that a campus employee heard dozens of gunshots and saw students, who were taking final exams, seeking areas of safety, CBS Los Angeles reports.

The college and all other schools in Santa Monica were closed following the shootings.
