NYC Cops Fight World Terror

Next year, New York City's finest will work overseas to help foreign law enforcement agencies fight terror on a worldwide scale.

Detectives will join the Scotland Yard in London, the Bundeskriminalamt in Hamburg (the German counterpart to the FBI) and Israel's Mossad intelligence service in Tel Aviv to strengthen anti-terror co-operation. Detectives are already stationed at Interpol's Lyon office in France and in Toronto, Canada.

The detectives are scheduled to stay at their foreign posts for six months to a year, but the positions could become permanent should the program prove successful. In exchange, foreign law enforcement agencies are considering sending detectives to New York.
