Man on Death Row Asks For Execution

Michael Ross, convicted of multiple murders, is now volunteering to end all appeals of his death sentence so he can be executed.
Ross, 45, was convicted in 1987 of kidnapping and strangling four teenage girls and raping three of them. He has decided to stop filing appeals because he wants to end the pain of the victims’ families.
Although Ross is now scheduled to be executed on Jan. 26, the Connecticut Supreme Court might allow the lawyers Ross recently fired and replaced with a private attorney to present evidence they say will show the murderer is not mentally competent.
Ross’ execution would be the first for Connecticut in 45 years.
