A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance was stolen earlier this week from a Hollywood medical center. A man was arrested several hours later after driving the emergency vehicle to Paso Robles, some 200 miles away.
The man was arrested by officers of the California Highway Patrol. At presstime, he was being transported back to Los Angeles to be booked on suspicion of grand theft auto.
Editor’s Note: It appears that this is a case of joy riding. However, officers should be aware that ambulances and other emergency vehicles have been used in bomb attacks in Israel.
PoliceMag.com readers should always consider the possibility that theft of an emergency vehicle could be a predicate to a terror attack.
