RESET To Introduce Powered Rifle Rail Adapter

RESET will introduce its Rifle Integrated Power Rail (RIPR) weapon accessory at Shot Show 2011 in Las Vegas from Jan. 18-21.

The RIPR is an integrated powered rail adapter for tactical rifles that provides central power for weapon-mounted accessories and adapts to Picatinny (M-1913) rails.

The RIPR centralized power pack improves weapon balance, reduces weight and replaces the need for multiple battery types, according to the company.

This year, other manufacturers are incorporating the RIPR power pack into their purpose-built products. Laser Devices Inc., as one example, is debuting their RIPR-powered Forward Mounted Lights and Forward Mounted Light Laser assemblies at the SHOT Show.

"Both the white light and combination light/lasers are only the beginning," according to Heinz Thummel, chief executive officer for Laser Devices. "Our product coupled with the powered rail makes for a tremendous system for soldiers and commercial users."

RIPR eliminates redundant battery compartments and batteries associated with each weapon-mounted device; it directly provides power to these devices, which reduces size by up to 50 percent. By tapping RIPR's increased battery output, currently deployed devices will run longer and devices with higher power demands will become more readily deployable.
