A law firm representing New York City has dropped efforts to collect $710 from a man killed during a police pursuit who was struck by a cruiser.

In late September, Laverne Dobbinson received a letter from the law firm addressed to her son. The letter demanded that he pay $710 within 10 days for damage caused to the patrol car, which was damaged after a chase that ended when it collided with Dobbinson's son, Tamon Robinson.

The front of the car was dented during impact, reports the New York Times.
