Baltimore Police Want to Add Safety Measures to 24 Transport Vans

Baltimore Police look at ways to improve safety and accountability in their prisoner transports.

Baltimore City's Police Commissioner Anthony Batts told WUSA9 News that he wants to upgrade its fleet of 24 transport vans with new partitions, side doors and cameras.

The commissioner addressed members of city council outlining short term and long term options.

Immediately they could improve the current fleet of 24 vans at a cost of $15,000 each, to include installing cameras and new doors and eliminating a center partition to make getting in and out of the vans easier.
