A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department initially said two deputies sustained critical injuries and they were taken to a hospital.

Two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were critically injured in a fire and explosion at a training facility in Castaic Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department initially said four deputies were injured, two of them with minor injuries. However, officials later said that only two deputies sustained injuries and they were taken to a hospital in Valencia.

Video from ABC7’s helicopter showed firefighters dousing a burning tractor-trailer with water in an open-air area inside the walls of the detention center. An armored vehicle was parked alongside the trailer.

LASD has reported there was live ordnance at the scene. Deputies and firefighters were seen holding protective shields along with the fire hose.

Cause of the fire and the nature of the deputies’ injuries had not been disclosed at presstime.
