This year, Officer Fox participated in a holiday program he started several years ago called "Shop With Public Safety" where he took needy children shopping for gifts.
Officer Fox had attempted to pull over a white Volvo on July 27 for a busted tail light, when the driver, James Roscoe Lockhart III, instead led him on a pursuit. Lockhart pulled over, exited the Volvo, and fired 12 rounds at Officer Fox with a .45-caliber handgun. One of the rounds hit Officer Fox's arm and ricocheted to his forehead, reports WISH .
