The Garland (Texas) Police Department has fired an officer , after an investigation revealed he fired 41 shots at a fleeing, unarmed suspect.
Officer Patrick Tuter shot and killed Michael Vincent Allen after a 30-minute high-speed pursuit that began in Garland and ended in a Mesquite cul-de-sac. Officer Tuter began pursuing the 25-year-old Allen, because he had fled from Sachse Police the day before. Officer Tuter, who reloaded twice after opening fire, told investigators he believed Allen was armed.
