2 Seattle Officers Fired for Shooting at Fleeing Vehicle

Interim Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best—who last week was nominated by Mayor Jenny Durkan for the permanent chief's job—fired two officers who fired on a fleeing vehicle last year.

Best found that Officers Kenneth Martin and Tabitha Sexton "recklessly fired at the stolen car after failing to follow department policies," according to the Seattle Times .

Best's decision comes after a lengthy internal investigation—conducted by the department’s Office of Police Accountability (OPA)—which resulted in the recommendation that Martin and Sexton be dismissed.
