Kansas SRO Called Hero for Stopping School Shooter

Police said they responded to the active shooting situation with multiple patrol and EMS units, along with SWAT and aviation units.
Nikolas Cruz’s defense lawyer told a Broward County judge in a morning hearing that Cruz would change his plea on all counts in the homicide case against him. The defense team is seeking 17 consecutive life sentences for Cruz, 23.
The suspect is in custody and he will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
Regardless of the situation, cops across the country will be called upon to keep kids safe in school as young people return to campus for the 2021-2022 school year.
When officers entered the bathroom, the student fired at them, striking Officer Adam Wilson, and was hit and killed by return fire from police, said David Rausch, director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Activists want SROs out of schools and that could lead to really dangerous outcomes for some students.
The movement to remove officers from schools will only lead to more violence on campus and more victims for active shooters.
"I simply cannot ask a school resource officer to stop an armed gunman entering a school without them having the ability to not only achieve this mission, but also to protect themselves," Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat, said during a press conference.
