Santa Fe officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The suspect fled in the vehicle onto I-25 northbound in the southbound lanes. The crash occurred in the northbound lane of I-25.
“As bad as the officers feel about something like this, it goes down to one person, and it’s that felon who fled in a motor vehicle and ended up taking somebody’s life,” said Ray Hunt, executive director for the Houston Police Officer’s Union.
Officer Brian Cummings was pursuing the driver of a stolen vehicle in north Minneapolis when his marked squad car slammed into the driver's side of Leneal Frazier's Jeep, at nearly 80 miles per hour.
Friday, more than a month since the accident, Officer Jonathan Negron was able to walk out of the hospital. A contingent of family, friends and fellow officers gathered at ECMC to applaud his recovery.
Police said that shortly after midnight Tuesday, an officer spotted a vehicle near Sixth Street and Lowry Avenue North, believed to be connected in multiple business robberies. The driver fled after the officer attempted a traffic stop and the officer pursued.
The officer chased the suspect and was driving north on Lyndale Avenue when the police cruiser entered an intersection and hit a car driving westbound. It then hit another vehicle traveling south on Lyndale.
Officers pursued the suspect. At a nearby intersection the suspect and lead pursuing police vehicle made it through the intersection, however the second pursuing Eureka PD vehicle was involved in a collision with an uninvolved motorist.
