Feds Fund Hiring of 1,000 Local Officers
The DOJ's Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) office awarded the grants to 238 law enforcement agencies and municipalities. The awards will create or help preserve 1,021 sworn law enforcement positions.

There are some police agencies that require you to prove you've established residency for up to two years prior to submitting an application. Others require you to move into the jurisdiction within a year of your hire date.
