The new cars will be solid blue with white wrapped doors that display the words "Portland Police" and the slogan, "Sworn to protect. Dedicated to serve." A red rose appears between the words "protect" and "dedicated" on the vehicle.

The defense attorney for Cheryl Kidd, 56, gained approval from the judge to have his client undergo an evaluation at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem to determine if she is fit to stand trial for fatally shooting Eugene Police Officer Chris Kilcullen.

Investigators said Pool appeared to be under the influence of drugs, possibly methamphetamine. Pool yelled obscenities at officers and attempted to push away a ladder officers used to reach him.

Woman Accused of Killing Ore. Officer Suffered from Schizophrenia
Cheryl Dawn Kidd, 56, was arraigned on Monday in Lane County Circuit Court on an aggravated murder charge in the killing of Officer Chris Kilcullen during an attempted traffic stop.

Woman Guns Down Ore. Motor Officer During Pursuit
Officer Chris Kilcullen, a 12-year veteran of the force, had pulled alongside the 1998 Buick Skylark driven by Cheryl Kidd, 56, at a red light in Springfield. When Kilcullen, 43, motioned to Kidd to pull over, the woman pulled out a handgun and opened fire, fatally wounding the officer.

Administrators at an Oregon middle school recovered a Ruger 9mm semi-auto pistol from a 13-year-old who said he thought it would be "cool" to bring it to class.

Two Oregon Officers Shot Responding to EDP
Portland officers responded to the home of Ralph C. Turner on Friday. He is accused of shooting one of the officers through the door. The second officer was shot through a window in the house while the officer was standing in Brooklyn Park.

Wounded Oregon Officer Leaves Hospital In Good Spirits
Officer Steven Dodds, 45, was shot multiple times during a Jan. 23 vehicle stop. The officer will undergo several more surgeries and begin working on regaining his strength.
